What do teachers say about this resource? (11037, 11038)

This is a well-constructed resource with that target all elements of the specification in an appropriate depth. Many of the questions allow teachers to quickly identify misconceptions as the incorrect answers are well considered and, in some cases, diagnostic. I thought the range of knowledge tested from across each topic was wide-ranging and hit small specification points that some teachers may overlook when recapping content of the topic (flow chart shape for subprogram, final/iterative testing, use of the term machine code, etc.). Overall, I think this is a well put together resource that comprehensively addresses points across all 5 topics in the Component 2 specification. There are places where I think some questions could be improved/added but I don’t feel this detracts from the resource in its current state ... I liked the fact that the questions are well categorised by topic and the variety of questions included – despite primarily being multiple choice, the variety of questions (completing tables, true/false, etc.) helps to keep students engaged and practicing a range of skills – sometimes going beyond simple recall of facts and requiring the direct application of knowledge (trace tables, for example) ... The depth that many topics are explored in is good, with circa 50 questions provided for each unit of component 2 from the specification. This would allow teachers to align the content of the resource easily with their delivery of the subject.

I liked the consistent format and layout and, while small, allowing students to total their score on the bottom can highlight to them and teachers which topics they are/aren’t confident with ... This resource is excellent for allowing teachers to embed retrieval practice into the classroom with minimal workload. Teachers could employ a variety of teaching techniques with these resources – retrieval starters, knowledge checks during/after topics, peer-/self-marking, revision, formative assessment, homework, etc.

The resource allows learners to practice the recall of key facts from component 2 of the course, allowing them the opportunity to commit these facts to long term memory through retrieval.

The diagnostic design of many of the questions permits teachers to identify what students do not understand and, crucially, the specific mistake/misconception they have made allowing for quick intervention from the teacher on an individual/class-level basis ... I feel the resource is well-matched and aligned to the OCR GCSE specification, addressing all topics within it. The spec has been well-interpreted, with many of the questions requiring the use of knowledge that is likely to be tested in an examination ... I would use this resource explicitly as starter tasks after teaching the content of a unit to allow for spaced retrieval. Students could then self-/peer-mark their answers and I would easily be able to log their scores into our tracking system.

I think this would save me time, allow students to revise key concepts and allow me to increase my tracking data allowing me to have a more accurate picture of student attainment ... a very well put together resource!

A great resource that I would happily use. I think the layout is great and would allow me to get a good level of quantitative data... This resource is excellent and follows the specification for J277 really well. I think that the layout is really clear and covers all of the different questions that you might expect for each sub topic. There is a good variety of questions and also the additional images to help students to visualise things like flowcharts is excellent... the layout is really clear and well presented, I like the fact that there are images in some cases where students will need to visualise certain things... I like when more than one answer is required this is clearly underlined... for an MCQ to give quantifiable data on how a students is doing and provide them with low stakes to help them feel better about their results. To be able to give whole class feedback as well as taylored revision and targetting intervention then this resource is excellent... I really like the simple layout and how it has been presented, there are no questions that straddle pages and each are clearly condensed to maximise the room on the page. The mark scheme comes with very helpful additional commentary too... this sticks to the specification really well, it is clearly laid out in to the different sub parts of the specification and these are clearly broken down to allow staff to use them either has a whole or in the separate parts of the course as they are covered. Theres also more than one MCQ per topic area and this is great for doing closing the gap tasks or even just giving the students another go.

Each topic of the multiple choice quizzes are relevant to the specification. Use suitable exam vocab, that appropriately challenges students in a manner that could be similar to their exam ... All of the questions are closely linked to the specification. A specific area of the may appear more than once in each quiz but slightly reworded. I also like that many of the questions are not straight forward and make the students consider their answers carefully before making a final choice ... It helps build students confidence. Some of the students that struggle with their own answers perform particularly well on the these multiple choice questions. This demonstrates they have an understanding but that it needs working on for the final exam ... this will save you time and provide clear feedback about what areas in a topic need to be worked on ... I am confident that it fully matches OCR J277
