AQA GCSE (8525) Computer Science - Unplugged Activities

Superb collection of 42 engaging 'unplugged' activities, tackling key concepts across the AQA GCSE Computer Science (8525) specification – for first teaching 2020; exams from 2022. Provides you with a range of absorbing, interactive classroom activities which need minimal planning time.

A large number of really useful offline ideas

D Peacefield, Teacher & Customer

None of these activities require access to a computer, allowing students to benefit from a more hands-on approach to learning the specification theory.

  • Range of whole class, group and pair work – from quick starters to whole lessons activities
  • Planning sheet tells the teacher what to do both before and during the lesson, and gives ideas for extension/adaptation
  • Attractive resources provide everything you need for each activity!

We have been able to visualise certain concepts better and it keeps my kinaesthetic learners very engaged

D Peacefield, Teacher & Customer

Activities are mapped and grouped by AQA specification topic, and presented in an A4 ring-binder, making it easy for you to find the right activity for your teaching!

What do teachers say about this resource? (10598)

This resource is incredible. I love the instruction pages for teachers. They are clear, concise, and very well put together. The concept of having a collection of resources that can be used throughout the year at a moment’s notice is very appealing. I can imagine this resource helps avoid wasting valuable learning time. For example, if a planned activity does not take as long as expected, or the class is in a particular mood (say, after lunch when they are sleepy), I would have this resource printed and ready to go ... I love that the resource includes activities for the whole course. This fits really well with a spiral curriculum, where recalling knowledge repeatedly is a priority. I also appreciate that the resource is offline, away from screens, and in many cases encourages students to be up and collaborating with one another. This is invaluable to the classroom environment and learning experience ... I feel it would get students moving, talking, and engaging with physical materials, which is invaluable in today’s screen-heavy world ... The biggest educational benefit is ... revisiting topics in a spiral manner helps combat the forgetting curve and enables students to embed knowledge for the long term. This represents true learning ... the layout is great ... The different activities are a creative way to help teachers design engaging and fun lessons covering all topics on the specification ... an excellent resource that offers practical, engaging, and well-structured activities. It supports both teachers and students effectively and encourages active learning away from screens, which is much needed
