What do teachers say about this resource? (12435)
I like this resource, especially the activities, which encourage students to work collaboratively and have fun whilst learning. It offers examples to add depth to basic teaching of the specification. Both health and social care settings are considered, helping students clearly differentiate between the care given.
The case studies provide loads of detail to explore, specifically about the settings and who works there, adding real-life scenarios for lessons. I could purchase this resource for unit R032 but use it with any of my other courses, from Level 1 through to Level 3.
It adds theory to the basic unit information. As students struggle to find work placements in Years 10/11, these enhance their understanding of real-life working.
A number of activities could aid revision, e.g., Activity 4.3 recalling types of PPE, while others work better within lessons to add detail to basic concepts, such as Activity 3.1 drawing diagrams back-to-back for communication skills. They give teachers ideas for lesson planning.
Inclusion of answers helps teachers and students – for independent learning, homework, or peer marking. The topics covered section after each case study is very helpful. If students struggle with a concept, e.g., empowerment, I can easily find which case studies to use.
The resources are easy to photocopy and adapt. The wide variety of activities makes it possible to mix and match, using them as a whole or in parts. Activities in topic area order make it easy to find a specific topic.
