Topic Tests for L3 AAQ BTEC National: Health and Social Care

A precise and comprehensive diagnostic tool to reveal students' strengths and gaps accross unit 1, unit 2 and unit 3!

8-11 thoughtfully sequenced tests build in progressive diffculty – from retrieval of core knowledge, through targeted application tasks and culminating in longer inferential and synoptic questions that interleave concepts from across the unit.

Stretches learning due to questions being asked in a variety of different ways

J Snowling, Teacher, Pastoral leader & Peer Reviewer
  • Varied question styles – multiple-choice, match-ups, gap fills, table fills, labelling images, short- and extended-answer questions – ensure students think hard, not just rehearse facts.
  • Case-study scenarios link theory to real-world practice and mirror the applied nature of the unit.
  • Comprehensive mark schemes support effective feedback, as well as peer- and self-assessment
Reusable non‑write‑on masters: reduce costs and support repeated use.
Efficient, flexible use: tests take just 30-60 minutes – perfect for lessons, revision sessions or homework!

How these tests support effective practice...

Select the practice type to reveal more:
Retrieval Practice
Use the tests after teaching each sub-topic (without notes) to prompt students to recall previously taught knowledge, strengthening long‑term memory.
Varied Practice
Use different questions from the tests across multiple lessons so students practise the same knowledge through varied formats and contexts, strengthening flexible understanding.
Distributed Practice
Re‑test students at the end of the unit and again several weeks later, or pull selected questions from earlier sub‑topics into later lessons, to re‑expose students to key concepts over time and reinforce long‑term retention.

What do teachers say about this resource? (13112)

Very user-friendly and gives students the skills to develop their exam technique. It complements the textbook well and gives the students a differentiated level of questions. Good coverage of the content of Unit 1. I particularly liked how the questions are phrased, which makes it very user-friendly. The Mark allocation and answers in easy-to-understand student speak aid revision and develop confidence in the students. This resource enhances student engagement as the misconceptions are addressed, which makes the progress rate increase and boosts the students' confidence. I like how the answers are logical and easy to follow. Clear, concise layout with a suitable font and text for all learners. I would say it is dyslexia-friendly due to the uncomplicated style and choice of colours, spacing and font. A fab resource!

The resource was brilliant, clear links between each separate sections for each learning aim. Questions are asked in a variety of ways which challenge different areas. I liked how each section of the resource was broken into topics following the specification. Scenarios given were easily understood, and this would make it easier for students to refer back to as they have context. This stretches learning due to questions being asked in a variety of different ways. The layout of this resource is clear and concise, and scenarios give detail but are not overcomplicated. This makes it easier for students to refer back to. Each area of the specification is covered fully, in a variety of different ways. This gives students different ways to be able to access this knowledge, both in lower-mark questions and higher-mark questions.
