This resource is suitable for the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 Business – Theme 2 Building a Business Course. The content follows the specification well and would be suitable for 14-16 year olds following this specification.

Suitable for teachers and provides a substantial support in terms of providing purposeful examples, which again will support the learning. Also provides potential alternatives that students may respond with. This is valuable in light of non-specialists that could be asked to deliver the course, which I know happens.

The added enhancement of this resource is the full answers that have been provided to support of this resource, which also provides alternative responses to consider. Again this could also be used as a further learning resource

Assessment Objectives are covered well throughout.
Appropriate content, which follows the specification
Appropriate and well-designed questions, which again follows the requirements of the course.

This resource would be suitable to use both as a formal assessment to check knowledge and understanding, address any misconceptions relating to the content as students’ progress through the course or as a homework. Could also be used as material for a cover lesson. I would most definitely use this personally as part of my assessment plan as evidence of students progress and attainment.

A really good and exacting resource.

I think the resource offers some good tests that would be suitable for staff to use at the end of a topic for assessment. They provide enough MCQ’s, short questions and longer answers for section B. As the tests are 40 minutes this allows them to be used in schools with 50 and 60 minute lessons so I think this adds to the appeal of the tests. Having the answers provided after each test is also valuable.

What you particularly like about this resource?
The tips and common mistakes when answering a question is good.
The structure for answers of each command word and the suggested answer content are good and make it clear for students.
The fact that they were 40 minute tests.
There was a good mix between tests with calculations and those without.

I think that it would enhance the understanding of the specification requirements if teachers were not familiar with this via the exam board. I also think that it would enhance the learning as teachers may not have time to write their own mini tests and use part of a paper which may not match with the required time allowed. By this I mean, the teacher may take a section from a 90 minute paper and allocate 40 minutes to complete the questions but students need longer due to what has been selected to be tested or they complete it too quickly. Also, by having the test in these topic areas it means the teacher does not have to take various questions from various past papers to test students on the topic. It is done here for them leaving the past papers for focused lessons or mocks.
