What do teachers say about this resource? (13092)
A highly effective, value-for-money resource, especially as only the SAM is available for this course at present. It gives valuable opportunities to practice the exam as a whole paper to get the students used to the terminology, content and the depth required to enable them to achieve the best grades. Every topic is covered within the 4 exam papers. It is very useful for teachers to check understanding and knowledge of topics, and to identify gaps in learning by asking individual questions, as well as giving students a chance to practice timings for the whole exam in mocks. The papers follow the format of the officially released SAM. I like the warning on page 1, as from experience, exam boards do often move away from their original SAM format as the course is delivered and therefore evolves through lessons learned. The mark scheme is very useful, particularly how it breaks up the points into PO1, 2 and 3. The questions have a logical flow to them, as the actual paper would have. There are different types of questions, including the tick box and case studies, that OCR use within their exam papers so students can practice all types. The demand level of the questions closely matches both the SAM and OCR Exam Builder Level 3 HSC level of questions, and as there are no actual papers to compare, this gives confidence to teaching and exam preparation. The case studies are all relevant, and they all represent real-life examples that could occur in a given setting. They are written at Level 3 and vary in demand – very OCR. This will be a popular resource, as working through exam papers is known to be an effective way of revising for final exams. The Specification Reference Table is especially useful, especially as a teacher. As I teach each topic area, having a bank of questions I can embed will help to check learning, as well as give students ongoing exam practice. The layout for the papers matches the OCR SAM, enabling students to write on the paper as they will when they do their actual exam. The resources are all easy to photocopy and adapt for teachers within lessons. A timely resource, much needed for this new course.
REALLY useful! Especially in year 1 of the course when only one SAM paper has been released. Mapped to the F090 specification, I would be confident using this in my classroom; it would provide invaluable practice opportunities for students. Each paper mirrors the actual paper.
Provides more opportunity to practice before the actual exam. Enhances Exam Builder as there is only one SAM produced at the moment. Perfect, matches the SAM. Yes, it is fully matched to the specification; the range of questions across all 4 papers covers everything in the specification.
Strong and valuable resource. Providing four full practice papers is excellent, especially given the limited examination support currently available. The papers provide a good variety of questions that cover all topic areas within F090 at least once, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the specification. I also appreciated the clear link between the questions and the command words used in the specification, which helps students develop familiarity with exam-style language. The inclusion of both short-answer and extended-response questions offers a useful variety and mirrors the structure of real assessments. This resource has strong educational value as it allows students to apply their knowledge across F090 in an exam-style context. The range of question types helps to develop both recall and analytical skills, encouraging students to think critically and demonstrate understanding at different levels. By linking directly to the command words used in the specification, the papers also support students in becoming more confident with the language and expectations of formal assessments. Completing these practice papers can help identify strengths and areas for development, providing valuable opportunities for self-assessment and teacher feedback. Overall, the resource effectively enhances learning by promoting exam readiness, consolidating understanding, and improving familiarity with the assessment format.
What do teachers say about this resource? (13093)
A great resource - very well structured and thoughtfully designed. The inclusion of clear, high-quality diagrams, e.g F091: Paper 1 11b, 12a, Paper 2 12a, effectively supports understanding and helps to illustrate key concepts. Overall, it’s a well-produced and valuable tool for both teaching and exam preparation. The range of topic areas covered across the four papers is good, providing opportunities for students to engage with multiple aspects of the unit. It enhances learning by providing students with structured, exam-style practice that mirrors the format and expectations of the F091 assessment. The combination of a wide range of topic areas and varied question types—multiple choice, short-answer, extended-response, and questions supported by diagrams—helps students develop both knowledge recall and higher-order thinking skills, such as analysis and application.
