It’s fantastic! I’m not aware of similar resources existing and as a teacher of OCR A level Biology I know it’s something myself and my colleagues have been waiting for.
The ‘pre-lab tasks’ are an excellent idea. Great to get the students linking prior knowledge to a practical context, which is something they often struggle with. I also love the questions embedded into the method as it gets to students to think about why they’re doing things rather than just blindly following a method.
I think it links to the specification very well. The pre lab tasks cover the biological knowledge from the spec that the student need in order to access the practical. The resource clearly and accurately links to the CPACs. The table on page 2 makes these links very clear.
This resource will be very effective at enhancing learning. There are exam style questions helping students apply their practical knowledge to an exam context. Practical questions are often challenging for student in exams, so this resource will be very valuable in helping them prepare effectively for these questions. The questions in the methods, requiring students to justify steps, add a lot of educational value as this is another area where students tend to be weak.
Fantastic layout. Very clear, organised into sections. Great that the answers are available in the resource too. I really like the boxes at the end of the method where students can tick off the skills.
I would definitely buy this resource. Practical endorsement is an area where we a less well resourced, so this would be highly useful and save a lot of teacher time.
