Excellent...Questions reflected exam style and built up gradually with a good mix of styles. A must have for any student preparing for the exam. Excellent match to the specification.

A good resource that can be used to help students to revise for the Unit 1 exam... I like the fact that the questions are laid out and look similar to the actual exam questions... This resource has good educational value as it would prepare students with the knowledge of the style and type of questions in the exam and also the layout and structure of the exam itself.

M Price (peer reviewer)

A good resource... I liked the fact that each part of the topic is broken down into manageable pieces for that level of learning. The ‘openers’ or the ‘setting of the scenario’ at the beginning of the questions are clear and easily understandable... There is a good selection of Level 1 and Level 2 type questions allowing differentiation and, also, opportunities for candidates at both levels to attempt all questions. The multi-choice questions relate more to Level 1 candidates and the open questions relate more to Level 2 candidates... This resource enhances learning by providing a mock exam which can be given under exam conditions. The learners should be placed in a mock exam simulation and the completion of the paper should be timed. This will then prepare the learners for the type of environment in which they are expected to perform. It will also prepare them for the structure of the exam paper; this has been proved to be beneficial as candidates can be confused if the exam paper is unlike any of the learning they have undertaken during their learning

A good supplement to teaching BTEC ICT... [it] would be valuable as an in-class resource prior to an exam.

What do teachers say about this resource? (5689)

I think the resource is great for the students to practice the questions from experience with marking and the basic questions such as input and output devices are the regular questions that get answered incorrectly... the content is great and covers everything needed...Practice papers allow students to get used to exam papers and the style of questions that are used so that on the day they are not daunted by the paper... matches the specification and it can be used by pupils outside of school as homework or if a pupil is off school due to short term illness/broken bones etc.

An excellent resource that will provide a really good basis for the learners to undertake independent activity assessing their own knowledge and understanding... It has been well researched and maps well to the unit standards... will provide an excellent assessment of learner's knowledge and understanding in preparing for the online assessment. It provides a good mix of multi question tasks along with questions that require students to explain and justify their responses. This is a great resource for students to undertake independently with a mark scheme that will enable the learners to check their own learning and a great reference that informs learners which questions are mapped to the standards

K Tucker (peer reviewer)

The set of papers had a nice, easy to use layout that would easily become familiar to students... I liked the continuity throughout which will help users to become familiar... The resource uses different ways of asking questions from inserting words to completing a table. This adds variety to the task which prevents learners becoming bored or afraid they may have too much writing to input.

P Grove (peer reviewer)

I like the fact that the papers generally follow the specification and consist of a mix of questions that reflect each of the three strands... I feel that the resource enhances learning by giving students some idea of their understanding of the subject material and any areas where they may have gaps in their knowledge.

R Wilson (peer reviewer)

A good resource with plenty of suitable questions with good variety... I like the use of up-to-date technology and found the learning aims and answer sheets very good... These would make good class tests... Layout was clear and concise.
