Comprehensive well planned and resourced resource. I liked the clear structure, appropriate videos and clear student activities. Students will get a great understanding of rocks and the rock cycle. It matches the KS3 curriculum well. The resource is of a excellent publishable standard.
A very detailed curriculum plan with a wide variety of interesting activities for students. I liked the range of resources - from closed texts, to photos, text, crosswords and video resources. It's a ready to use curriculum plan for a teacher to take off the shelf and use. It provides solid facts, visual stimulus and activities that build an enquirer mind. It has all the links to answer the questions that will be asked at KS3. Provides teachers with a pick n mix. They can then build their own plan for the unit.

A great resource that breaks down the topic clearly and includes some interesting activities that promote development of skills... Students have an opportunity to create their own weather report which we used with our green screen. A useful activity when students are choosing their options for GCSE!

The unit overview and lesson plans provide good, usable guidance, ideas and activities for teachers delivering the new curriculum for KS3 geography. The extension ideas on some of the worksheets...will be a huge help to teachers who have mixed ability classes. The discussion questions for starter activities are a nice addition and suitable for getting the pupils to begin thinking analytically.
Clear introduction to population and urban issues – introduces students to a variety of global issues
Excellent - It is as I have envisaged and planned the unit for my school. It is interesting and well scaffolded so that lessons follow on from each other and builds on previous learning. The main geographical themes are well covered which opportunities for skill demonstration. The population pyramids lesson is particularly well written. Interesting ideas for each lesson and a resource that departments can use as a base to develop their own scheme of learning which is essential. As a head of Dept I was excited and thought that it was a great SoL which I rarely think about mass produced things due to its adaptability, its coverage and resourcing... High expectations of students in terms of key words and ideas such as Malthus and the DTM. It is not dumbed down. Great set of skills. Scaffolds learning over the course of the scheme of learning. Embeds key terms and shows teachers the main ideas that students should cover... Work sheets - although I would not print them off and use them for our department as there is very little in there that could not be on the board that the students complete (apart from maps) I think that they are excellent for showing teachers how to plan activities and the questioning that they would need to do. I would use them to structure the lesson activities but project them onto the board/incorporate them into my powerpoint presentations. They would be useful for lower ability students... I really liked it. It is very similar to how we have planned our year 9 population unit (we have the additions of ageing population, shanty town improvements - as I strongly believe the Geography of hope is missing from many units! How depressing to be a young person and told that so many things are bad all the time - migration, sunshine migration and EU post accession migration) and it is a well thought out scheme of work. It would benefit all types of schools and really is an excellent starting point for developing and tailoring departments own schemes of work. Excellent. A varied range activities, good differentiation and activities to suit all different learning styles in the classroom. it is so varied, all learning styles are catered for. I really enjoyed reviewing this resource and it would be a welcome addition to my classroom.

A great variety of activities to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom. The keywords games are a great way to get students familiar with key vocabulary.
The resource is very comprehensive and useful for the teaching of this topic. Teachers who were to use it would find themselves with very little additional planning to do... I thought that the planning guidelines and self-evaluation sheets provided in the worksheets document were particularly good. They are detailed, would be very useful for the pupils and would save the teacher a lot of preparation time if they wanted to run this kind of activity with their pupils... The domino activities are also nice. I would definitely use them... I really like the activities for lesson 5. They are simple enough for pupils to easily understand what they will need to do but also require pupils to think... The suggested AfL tasks also make it a worthwhile scheme of work with real educational value... It is a very comprehensive resource and doesn’t just provide the facts of plate tectonics. It looks at human geography as well as the physical processes and really gets pupils to think. Any pupils being taught from this scheme of work would be able to develop their geographical understanding in many areas... The activities for the Philippine earthquake (lesson 6) match the new curriculum especially well. It is in the right area of the world for KS3 and they will allow pupils to develop special understanding of the area as well as covering the topic content. The inclusion of GIS in lesson 12 is good. This is a part of the new framework which I have struggled to fit into our scheme of work for KS3 geography.
A useful resource which provided a good range of activities and covered the key teaching areas for the unit. It matches well with the Programme of Study. The powerpoint images were clear and the structure of lessons clear... The resource will enhance learning by providing a wide variety of tasks - plenty of research, group and individual tasks, peer and teacher assessment opportunities and lots of different visual materials for kinaesthetic learners... The variety of tasks is good, e.g. dominoes, headline fill, diagram sheets... The resource matches the PoS very well, covering the key ideas of tectonics and using a good range of case studies from different parts of the world, and at a variety of scales.
This resource will be useful for geography ‘non-specialists’ who need a well-resourced and easy to follow scheme of work from which they can pick standalone lessons or use the entire scheme of work.
