Poems and Puzzles

For Key Stage 3 Science

Fantastic and imaginative collection of activities and poems to help your students learn key Science terms and concepts! Brilliant starters/plenaries and activities for homework/revision - all answers provided.

Many children learn with rhythm and poetry and this resource will allow them access to the science curriculum. The key elements are explained in a novel manner - many children will become engaged with this work that would otherwise not have developed an interest in these aspects of science

J Clark, HoD and Peer Reviewer
  • Each activity differentiated at two levels
  • Poetic way to incorporate literacy into Science!
  • Cross-referenced to the 2008 National Curriculum

What do teachers say about this resource? (3096)

Excellent. I thought the poems were short and catchy, the crosswords and clone exercises challenging for students but engaging too. The poems are brilliant, the layout of the pages is easy and uncluttered on the eyes. A variety of exercises enables all learning styles to be catered for. Allows students to think of science in a different way, one that they normally wouldn't experience in the science classroom.

M Bailey, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

Impressive, I liked the way that it brought poetry into the curriculum in a light hearted way, but best of all I liked the differentiation that it provided. Some science teachers might consider that poetry could not help them but I feel that it is an interesting aside and a good source of fun homework.

P Simmons, HoD & Peer Reviewer

I really like it. This will be fantastic for starters and plenaries. I would definitely want this resource to enhance our current schemes.

P Holmes, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

Wow. It is time-saving and well presented.

Allows students to access the topic regardless of ability.

J Hopkins, Teacher and Peer Reviewer

Very useful and easy to use. Great for plennaries especially as the worksheets are self explanatory and straight to the point.

E Rahim, Teacher and Peer Reviewer

Fits in well with KS3 curriculum, covering all main topics and highlights key words well.

Having key words in bold or as the missing words is very useful and helps focus attention on new and important vocabulary.

R Mead, Teacher and Peer Reviewer

A unique resource... a really good way to incorporate literacy into Science... I am really looking forward to using it in my teaching next year!

I particularly like the fact that the tasks are differentiated and have extension activities.

C Hopkins, Teacher and Peer Reviewer

The resource is fun and offers something different to the normal worksheet resources.

Very good. Congratulations to the author... not a resource I could have come up with. R Woodman, Science teacher
