AQA GCSE (9-1) Computer Science - Revision Guide

Structured revision guide ensures complete coverage of the examined theory in the AQA GCSE (9-1) Computer Science specification (8525, exams from 2022).

Extremely comprehensive and well-written

D Bate, Head of Computing & Peer Reviewer

Topic notes and diagrams are supported by examples and definition boxes, while mind maps provide further visual reinforcement of the key concepts. Provided in both A4 and A5 booklet formats.

Practice exam questions test students’ knowledge of each topic, providing excellent exam preparation.

The revision Checklist provides the student with an opportunity to track the content... Mind Maps are very good, printable and can help focus the learning for those with accessibility needs

What do teachers say about this resource? (12124)

It has real value to students to reinforce their revision ... The sections are clear, and the mind map is brilliant! The mind map leads nicely as a pointer to reinforce or abstract the sample question in each section. Solid resource, the author has done a good job! ... Diagrams are clear (e.g. Flowchart on page 7), and the instructions on the RHS also support the content and number system ... Students always struggle with the trace table (page 8), the content is clear, and the commentary also supports the process flow. Very good resource ... The mind map tool for each section is great and can be a revision guide all by itself. It is clear on the terms required for each section (page 13) ... Clear distinction between what is pseudocode and what is python code... Good differentiation between 1D and 2D array content ... Subroutines are difficult to distinguish on revision guides, and this one is good ... Good examples of validation checks, and the python examples are solid and help give a student insight into their usage (Usually a grade 6+ question) ... The data representation section with the step-by-step tables is also solid and very clear ... Mindmap on page 55 - nice use of imagery to support the backing store ... Glossary [is] easy to print and stick into student textbooks ... Sample answers at the back help to focus the learner on the content before seeing the answers ... a great revision guide to use at least 12 weeks prior to the exam. It helps corroborate learning and use the necessary terms associated with the glossary and mind map ... The users have clear guidance in the boxes for term definitions and examples, and the text outside the boxes is also clear in content and specific

This resource provides a variety of different activities all within the one resource ... This resource will boost learners revision by providing a revision guide that covers all topics breaking down the specification in to topics and manageable chunks to allow structured and meaningful revision for this subject ... I particularly like the mind maps at the end of each topic that can be used either on their own or as a starting point with pupils adding their own notes to the key terms. Some learner may like to adapt these mind maps by either adding doodles/sketches or diagrams to explain each section. The revision checklist at the beginning allows the learner to see which sections they may have weaknesses and need to focus their revision on, as well as areas that they have more confidence with ... This resource allows the learner to revisit topics from the specification and read through summary notes which include key concepts in a concise form which provides key terminology clearly explained and examples. This allows learners to focus on revision topic by topic and track their progress using the checklist at the front. It is easy to find information in relation to the exam as the guide follows the same order of the specification. The revision guide allows the learner to work independently through their revision to supplement any previous learning and prepare them for their exams ... The layout is consistent and clear throughout with each section broken down into subsection with exam-style questions at the end of each section. There is room throughout for learners to add their own notes or highlight key words amongst the text. There are mind maps at the end of each section that allows the learner room to add notes to the key words used. The amount of text used is set out so that it is not overwhelming to learner and easy to read and revise from, but if they wanted to they could their own doodles/details ... The exam-style questions have plenty of room or room for answers, calculations and working out of answers
