A very helpful and well-thought-out resource. The grammatical progression is perfect. The explanations, clear and simple, will appeal to a generation not enamoured with grammar! There is an excellent choice of exercises to prepare for the translations in the examination.

Very detailed, lengthy and worthy resource. Both text contents and vocabulary are relevant to the level targeted and challenging enough. The grammatical points are explained clearly. I like the very clear and detailed marking schemes with "accept" and "decline".

This resource enhances learning by exposing the learner to a wealth of good structures and vocabulary relevant to the various topics and helps them consider the real difficulties associated with translating from one language to another. It is very useful for pointing out to the learner that languages do the same job but differently. In this latter way, its educational value is high.

A Betts, Teacher, Former HoD and Peer Reviewer

Practice for vocabulary, grammar and the vocabulary and grammar that are included in the translation text is very coherent. Good tips for translation especially about the breaking down on verbs. The translation of the texts focuses on the vocabulary and grammar seen just before

What do teachers say about this resource? (9345)

I find this resource a really useful tool to practice the whole area of translation and to build student confidence and skills in tackling this exercise. In the early years of the new specification, it will be particularly helpful for teachers and learners to have this pool of topic resources to extend what they have in terms of textbook provision. It provides detailed and extensive materials across the full topic range and the logical progression will make it easy for teachers to slot translation practice into their existing programme of study. It would also work well as a self-access resource for students.

H Scott Murphy, senior examiner, author and private languages trainer & Peer Reviewer

Excellent resource to develop reading comprehension as well and to make students read on the different A Level topics. Useful and practical tips – well written and relevant for both students and teachers. Wide spread of grammatical points – clear explanations – important to keep the explanations short. Excellent exercise to read a passage in the target language first.

N Bourguilleau, French Teacher & Peer Reviewer

The resource was well put together. It challenges the students and it enables the students to identify key idiomatic structures which cannot be translated literally. It is very in-depth and challenging. It works perfectly in line with the AQA specifications.
