A scalding critique of the hypocrisies of English society and a strong expression of Priestley's socialist principles, An Inspector Calls – detective mystery turned morality play – has been a mainstay of GCSE Literature specs. Guide students through the quarrelsome night in 1912 with comprehensive notes and tasks that are both ‘fresh and enjoyable for teachers that have taught the text many times, and will help bring it alive for students as well.’ N Fry, English Teacher and Independent Reviewer

A useful resource. Lots of key information – clear structure. Would help students secure understanding... Theme section is useful – links well to context. Writers use of language is interesting too.. Good range of sections... Very clear and systematic approach. Breaks text down. Characterisation section is excellent – tasks here work well. Great to have a section on stagecraft and props as this can be something students neglect to focus on – some really useful points and ideas here... Very useful – addresses all angles which is very helpful. Good to have areas for extension too... A very comprehensive resource! Super.

'A detailed and well-thought-out resource. It was comprehensive in its subject content: useful for students and teachers alike... I liked the rich detail, especially the context. Also, I liked the words/synonyms for the characteristics of each of the characters: very useful to have for the exams. In addition, I liked the focus on props, which is a really good way for students to discuss stagecraft... I also liked the relationship links between characters. The glossary at the back was useful... I was particularly impressed with the amount of detail; I have taught this text for years and learnt a couple of new things!'

A very comprehensive resource... that provides some welcome additions to the study guides I have already seen on the market... The plot summary provides an interesting level of detail that starts to address key themes and takes it a step further from simple plot summaries... I particularly liked the vocabulary grids for all the major characters. This is something I have been after for a while and haven’t been able to find... I enjoyed the author’s particular style and take on this seminal text which makes it fresh and enjoyable for teachers that have taught this text many times and will help bring it alive for students as well.
