This is a fantastic resource that I believe could be used with groups of really high ability down to those of lower ability.

What do teachers say about this resource? (6947)

In my opinion, the content is excellent. This is an informative, detailed and well structured exam pack that will be of benefit to teachers and students alike. Additionally, I think it will be of benefit to those at the start of their GCSE course as well as to those pupils who are revising in the final stages if year 11.

In particular, I thought the introductory text extracts were effective to introduce students to the skill of analysing unseen texts. Additionally, the differentiated text extracts will assist students in building their understanding of this skill and developing their confidence in analysing unseen texts. By providing the two worksheets this enables the teacher to cover the different needs within their classroom.

The variety of individual, pair-work, etc. tasks is excellent. There are materials which could be used with groups of similar ability but also with mixed groups too... The wide range of tasks would effectively prepare pupils for all tasks in the exam. The skills developed throughout the resource should prepare [students] for any of the text-related questions but also prepare them for the wide range of writing tasks too. It is significant that skills are revisited throughout the assorted lessons so that skills are constantly checked, revisited and consolidated.

I really liked the variety of activities – in particular, using lots of tables and visual activities breaks the monotony of just practising writing, but also builds the skills of the students, possibly without them realising.

Very helpful resource... Clearly focuses on the exam style and reading skills. Clear links to AOs and mark schemes.

I like the way in which comparison elements were addressed as these were focused on enabling pupils to build up a system for breaking down questions and approaching these independently.
