What do teachers say about this resource? (7647)

This is a carefully planned and thought-out resource. It is a very interesting topic and the resource has been superbly written to fit the specification carefully. Each part of the specification is carefully covered in a good range of tests. Students are able to test their knowledge in a variety of ways which can only be beneficial to their studies of Migrants to Britain.
My main like of this resource is how the questions are written – these are not designed to catch out students nor try to highlight inadequacies in their learning. They are designed to underline their knowledge and provide a good confidence boost to students’ learning and knowledge. It is designed to slowly but gradually develop on their existing knowledge and be able to self-assess and regulate their own learning. The writer is clearly very knowledgeable about the topic and knows exactly what the students need to know and how they need to practice. The questions get harder as they progress which is a well-known way in which students can develop their knowledge and understanding.
The educational value is in its versatility. This resource could be used as a cover task if the Teacher is absent, students can self and peer assess with these tests, they can be used as wider and deeper learning in relation to the content, they can be a homework. What looks like a simple set of questions is so much more than that. Schools would essentially be getting about 4-5 resources in one which is incredible value for money and superb for its educational value. Students can use these topic tests in whichever way they feel benefits their learning. Also, this resource lends itself superbly to metacognitive learning given its versatility.
this author has ensured that all the content is covered through the topic tests which enhances its value further. Teachers of this specification are going to be very pleased that they have received a resource which is perfectly tailored to their course and the educational needs of their students.

A brilliant resource covering the breadth of the topic. It offers clear, thoughtful, unbiased representations of history. It covers and considers the wider global interactions that Britain had/has and the causes, impacts and legacies of these historical events that make Britain what it is today... Like the way this resource covers the identity of British people being shaped by their interaction with the wider world. It offers a firm evidenced based understanding for students as to why Britain looks like it does in the 21st Century. The diverse range of countries and peoples covered is phenomenal, relevant and well researched by the author... This resource exposes students to the many contributing factors of history, with a broad range of objective perspectives, preparing them for a career as a historian. It upskills their ability to be critical thinkers, use analytical skills and a wide range of historical resources. Highly transferable skills for young people to have. The topic test questions are presented clearly and succinctly with no room for misinterpretation, making them highly accessible for students... Absolutely brilliant! What an awful lot of work went in to that, well done!

What do teachers say about this resource? (11804)

I liked this resource... Covered a variety of mark tariffs... I also liked the guidance... User friendly... It enhances learning by allowing teachers to monitor students’ progress across the year and could also reassure students if they can see they are making concrete progress. Its educational value is to consolidate knowledge as the course continues and also to help with revision or lockdown or homework situations... It matches the specification well... I liked the multifarious nature of the activities... Most impressive of all was the detail in the answers, covering the main second order concepts... I would definitely buy this resource.

What do teachers say about this resource? (7524)

I liked this resource... The mark schemes were invaluable. There was also a variety of activities... I particularly liked the exam-style questions... There were some useful illustrations... The resource would enhance learning particularly by reassuring the less able who find thematic units, over a long period ,daunting. It's educational value would be to both students at various stages of the course and to teachers to allow them to track progress relatively easily, yet precisely... It matches the specification very carefully and logically.

I found this resource to be detailed and well structured. It tests both knowledge and understanding. The organised nature allows for students to determine their strengths and weaknesses on different aspects of the GCSE. The mark scheme for the exam question provides great exemplars which are easy for students to follow. The exam tips help give the students the extra focus they need before attempting the question.

What do teachers say about this resource? (7243)

It is very detailed and covers the whole specification. The mark schemes are detailed and really useful - making life much easier for teachers. Good range of primary and secondary material which would save teachers a lot of time in generating this themselves. Good range of exam questions too for extra practice. I love the depth and mark schemes. This would make tests very easy for teachers to mark.

This is a great resource for the busy teacher to use to check for learning and understanding as well as the key skills for history: sources and extended writing. The variety of assessment will keep students engaged and motivated and the teacher will gain a good insight into student progress, regardless of ability as there is assessment that will work for all levels.

The resource enhances learning by sticking close to the spec, thus giving students confidence, and providing a diagnostic tool for teachers.

Its educational value is to consolidate learning and improve skills by having some exam-style questions.

I particularly liked the variety of exercises.

What do teachers say about this resource? (6796)

This is a well-structured resource, which does cover all aspects of the specification. The focus overall is on the factual and recall. The idea of having a short test available at the end of a module will be welcomed by many teachers. The fact that pupils can mark the wrong work and keep their own record is a major positive.

This resource is good for testing the knowledge of pupils, which is an essential part of the GCSE. Knowledge-based tests are excellent as the new GCSE focuses on this!
