What do teachers say about this resource? (6553)

A superb resource... There is a wide variety of activities which caters for all learning styles... Tasks are set and then developed ... allowing a differentiated approach to teaching, depending upon the needs of the class for easy checking. It is a comprehensive resource for both experienced and new staff, but would be particularly supportive to teachers new to the Literature course ... and could be used effectively by non-specialist staff... Information is clearly presented and skills are built up throughout the course... A comprehensive document which would allow pupils to make a detailed study and analysis of the text.

An excellent resource which offers a thorough understanding of Lord of the Flies... There are numerous activities to encourage learning of this novel... Would be excellent for differentiation... Classroom activities are useful and attention to assessment objectives is clear... The highlighting of language and annotated examples are superb and I would use these for each section of the novel.

Very comprehensive... Really helps to develop subject knowledge of the text with a definite emphasis on inference ... and [to] understand the many layers of meaning... Really liked the PEE examples as well as emphasis on the language techniques which are important for the new exam.

A thorough and detailed resource – well structured and of great benefit to the pupils. Suits a range of abilities, with multiple-choice and match-up activities as well as larger and more thematic tasks... The variety of tasks is excellent, and will get pupils thinking... The activities are designed to be delivered in a range of ways – teacher-led, independent study, pair/group work, oral/drama tasks, homework... This range of strategies allows pupils themselves to engage with the text... I really like the modelling of annotation and PEE analysis of the opening chapter – incredibly useful for pupils to see how it is done right from the start. It’s a great, and active, way for pupils to discover the text.

I like this resource a lot... A very thorough, practical publication which will be useful for teachers and students... The strength of this resource is that it provides practical support for active learning, thus potentially cutting a lot of time out of planning... Both new and experienced teachers will like its variety of activities and the way it really encourages students to develop their analytical skills, as well as consolidating their knowledge of plot and characters... Because this resource is so logical and structured, it will be useful in so many ways... Will engage [students] and really make them think. It’s also good for inspiring experienced teachers to think about new activities for a text we have become very used to teaching! I really enjoyed reviewing this publication...
