What do teachers say about this resource? (5784)

This resource really nails CREW 1 and its requirements. I am the Writing Squad Leader for both Bournemouth and Poole Borough Councils and I have identified this resource as one which can also be used outside of the formal A Level specifications and as a creative writing tool which goes beyond the restraints of the post-16 classroom.

R Hill, Examiner & Peer Reviewer

I think you could teach CREW1 without using anything else. Great range of real-life examples of lots of kinds of writing, with useful prompts to steer students towards the things they should be thinking about in writing similar texts.

B Kemp, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

In terms of it being a student and teacher guide to current trends in creative writing it is exceptionally strong and fully comprehensive. I especially like how the references and sources are contemporary so they will engage the students. Also the resources are very strong examples of their genre which is a huge time saver for teachers struggling to find good resources.

Very clearly matches the requirements for CREW1 – it thoroughly covers all aspects of writing, provides practice papers and even identifies teaching techniques for proofreading. It is also thorough with a good range of links and examples to work with. The writers are clearly knowledgeable.

If I were approaching the course for the first time, I would be delighted to have such a comprehensive curated list of sites, articles and other media to use in the course. It would certainly make me feel like I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel or wonder too much about where to start. It provides a wide range of genres with lots of exploratory tasks, and I like that it demands thinking of the students; there is little spoon-feeding and a requirement for critical thinking.
