The Chief's Daughter by Rosemary Sutcliff: Activities for KS3 English

Published in 1972, The Chief’s Daughter is a Celtic story about a tribe in the midst of war and is provided in the resource with permission from the Sutcliff estate.

This is a fascinating choice of text that would grab a lot of pupils' interest, and I think this pack embodies the learning potential very well

I really liked the activities, and the pre-book tasks were extremely good and very worthwhile... I particularly liked the first activity, which is to research the life and novels of Rosemary Sutcliff... The research activities read very well and were both interesting and motivating, encouraging individual and collaborative work... This resource provides for great cross-curricular links, which is so important at this Key Stage. I thought the opportunities for multiple-choice, short answers and more extended writing were good.
