What do teachers say about this resource? (5431)

The legends and fables were excellent both in range and reading level. A wide variety of tasks which were directly related to the KS3 Learning Objectives with special attention to the needs of ESOL and low ability learners. I liked the table with references to assessment focuses and the provision of answers... The resource covers an extensive range of learning objectives and will help consolidate and build on grammar and vocabulary skills learned (or not learned) previously. The tasks provide ample opportunity for individual, small group and full class learning. Students will also learn important points of grammar and the tales and the tasks provide fabulous opportunity for discussion and interaction... The presentation and layout are great. I particularly liked the illustrations with labels to help with tricky vocabulary...The resource would be particularly relevant in schools with students from a range of ethnic backgrounds and I love the multicultural and diverse nature of the content, which has the potential to introduce students to a wider study of legends and fables, storytelling, etc.

A very high quality resource. It is one of the best I have reviewed... These are very accessible stories and they are very short making them easy to use in the classroom.

Substantial resources which were well thought out and developed across the scheme.

A useful resource which gets to the heart of learning with regard to building confidence in reading. The focus on individual words and meanings with exercises to demonstrate understanding is consistent and good for embedding skills... this resource enhances learning by using a variety of tasks focused on word structure and comprehension. The skills needed will vary and responses support different learning styles... the layout is clear and well organised... a good building block for the skills required for iGCSE. The techniques required are those being built on here, e.g. use of language at word level... I really like this resource – good range of focused activities which would make a real difference to those learning from it.
