What do teachers say about this resource? (5002)

Well structured and clear – particularly good at building on knowledge and understanding... It deals with the most common grammatical errors, which should be a constant focus in any classroom. There is a useful answer section at the back... This resource will be excellent to accompany other SoWs and can be used as a running course or as starters. The educational value cannot be underestimated... it enhances learning as it helps to teach pupils basic rules of grammar and punctuation. It is also set out for KS3, so tasks and layout are age-appropriate... The layout is clear - rules and examples set out for pupils to follow. The 'Have a go!' tasks are varied and engaging – challenging enough to ensure pupils have grasped the rule... It matches the KS3 specification as it enables pupils to focus on what they need to improve to reach a level 4 or 5 etc....used in conjunction with KS3 English specifications, it will be invaluable... Improving pupils' basic grammar and punctuation skills is crucial.

A thorough and vital resource for KS3 students... Would be an extremely useful addition to any English Department... I liked its clarity. The presentation was very good and it is very easy to find specific topics. It had a nice personal touch, ways to remember things... and understanding that the basics can sometimes be a little confusing. I particularly liked the rules for common errors section. As an examiner at GCSE, I know some of the errors covered in this section sometimes cost students a grade, so it is great to see them being addressed in a pupil-friendly way. This could easily be used as a homework booklet due to the clear instructions... It enhances learning by covering the basic building blocks of the English language which can sometimes be missed in the classroom. The value of it is that it is very clear and user-friendly, with lots of opportunities to consolidate the learning... it is vital that the issues covered in this resource are covered in detail at KS3... this is an excellent and necessary resource.

Lovely... A simple and self-explanatory resource that would aid students of particular learning needs... I liked the pictures... motivating [students] to 'have a go'... It will particularly be useful at nurture level as well as for low-attaining pupils in all areas of the curriculum... Presentation and layout is very good and pleasing to the eye.

Can be dipped in and out of and personalised to your class. You can focus on gaps in short bursts... This resource matches the spec well because of the little and often format – these skills are drilled into pupils through year 6 so any tasks that can refresh this is welcome.
