AQA B Lit: Christina Rossetti Poetry Teacher's Notes w/audio (from 2012)

A comprehensive collection of commentaries and analysis on all 9 Christina Rossetti poems from the AQA B Anthology. Includes an overview of the poems, suggestions for further reading and a brief biography. The guide could easily be used by teachers as the basis for a programme of study with a teaching group or more independently by students as part of self-supported study.

Each poem commentary includes analysis of:
  1. the structural and form features
  2. the language and messages in each stanza
  3. the context of the poem in relation to other work by Rossetti

Talking points are interspersed throughout to prompt further reflection and discussion of each poem and of Rossetti’s poetry in general.

Also:
  • An analytical overview of the selection of poems
  • Biographical information linked to wider concerns, like the Pre-Raphaelites, women’s roles and religion
  • Useful glossary of terminology
  • AQA B Lit examination-style questions for perfect practice

I think the resource is very valuable. I like the way it systematically covers each poem, addressing all aspects of A02 (analysis of language, form and structure), and how AO4 (contextual information) is integrated throughout the notes.
