The most original, fun-to-read scripts… 5 Five-Minute Scripts

"This collection means that in two lessons small groups can prepare and perform 5 five-minute scripts. The subject matter ranges from an Australian prison colony to Indian myth, and the plays vary in tone, dialogue and style of presentation. They provide excellent models on which pupils can base their own scripts."

What do teachers say about this resource? (118, 438)

Some good original ideas to use with the students. I liked the variety. With a more able group I gave each a short play and they prepared it for the class, it worked really well and they really enjoyed interpreting it for themselves. The plays can [also] be studied with a less able group as they are short and easy to get to grips with. It can give them the confidence to try something they may not have done before.

It is clearly set out, the information contained about the plays is useful. The plays are good for students to use in class to help develop and broaden pupils knowledge of drama... It allows pupils to see a number of drama techniques and work with them which in future will help with devised pieces.

Such short plays would be great for drama performance speaking and listening assessment, as well as promoting effective group work
