What do teachers say about this resource? (3527)
Excellent, extremely detailed and clearly thought out... The resource would enhance learning as is clearly and incrementally identifies what 'good' writing is, and how it can be produced. There is lots of scaffolding inherent in the different lessons, whilst also leaving enough latitude to challenge more able pupils... The layout is highly effective... The collection of the short stories at the bottom of the page is also helpful... The resource suits the NC effectively as it looks at texts from different periods - pre and post 1914... would produce some excellent short stories... The resource is flexible and well-conceived and would be suitable for year 8 as well. It is also effective in promoting the skills to write to describe requisite up to GCSE... polished and would be a wonderful support to any teacher, particularly NQTs.
A refreshing boy-friendly resource that doesn't alienate or patronise the girls in the classroom. Vocabulary choices in the extracts are accessible while stretching at the same time. Good balance of literature, written work and speaking tasks... Liked the clear and precise Learning Objectives link with each lesson. Would be especially useful to NQTs and non-specialists alike... Content of short stories has a direct engaging and learning link within each lesson. Lessons have specific starters, development opportunities and plenaries which allow pupils to know what is expected and allow the teacher to build upon prior knowledge... Pupils have a clear focus of the creative story-writing element and are offered hooks upon which to structure their own writing and hone their skills... Successfully covers the Assessment Foci for Writing at KS3. Objectives have a clear link to each focus... Super resource – useful addition to any existing SOW resource.
Well-written and resourced... covers a variety of subjects. Pupils will find it interesting... It matches the KS3 criteria
Well-structured, starting simply and building up to much more complex ideas and techniques... This resource could really focus the students on their writing skills, and lead to a much more considered use of writing for effect... fits well with the KS3 English Assessment Focuses
