What do teachers say about this resource? (2926)

Excellent, tremendous! I tried to make PowerPoint presentations covering the syllabus but it takes hours and hours and they were not nearly as good. These are professional, no nonsense, but contain exactly the right information." - R Erskine, Teacher and Independent Reviewer

Very useful examples, clearly laid out to use in the teaching of M1... A good time-saving resource of worked examples... Sensible examples that fit in with the OCR scheme of work... Can be used in the classroom by a teacher talking through the steps and woud also be very good for pupils to have access to as part of their revision... Matches the specification very well, the questions used are similar to those found on exam papers." — J Threlfall, Maths Teacher & Independent Reviewer

It is very effective in the sense that a student can easily go back over the work learnt. Moreover, the examples set out are very simply explained... The language used is simple and easy to grasp. The calculations performed are very easy to follow." M Sheikh, Maths Teacher & Independent Reviewer

A very well produced resource covering all the major teaching points and concepts in the course... The important concepts are shown clearly on each slide. It is important not to overload Powerpoint slides with more than one or two key points and the author has not done this but all major techniques are covered with clear diagrams... There is tremendous flexibility in use for this resource - either at the end of the course as a revision summary, at the end of a topic or during teaching by presenting the various situations most used in exam questions... Powerpoint presentations can be used very flexibly and this could be loaded onto a schools VLE for self teaching by students wanting a revision tool or wanting to catch up on missed lessons or to have their notes reinforced... Excellent resource with full explanations and clearly drawn diagrams with great potential for flexible use." — J Waller, Maths Teacher, Examiner & Independent Reviewer

A useful set of resources that would help teachers to present the key aspects of the M1 syllabus with ease and which, with printouts for students, would enable efficient progress to be made in lessons in introducing the basic ideas... What do teachers say about this resource? (3389)

The PowerPoints are broken down into small, clearly-focussed topics. The layout of the slideshows is clear, simple and uncluttered... I like the simplicity of the slides, with clear, appropriate examples... The key information is highlighted, and summarised at the end, in a clear manner... Examples are explained and progressed appropriately... It matches each of the learning objectives of the syllabus." — R Chaney, Head of Maths & Independent Reviewer

I really began to value the clarity of the presentations the more I went through them... By the end I was very impressed... the variety of presentational styles... helped to keep me interested... Liked the range within a topic in terms of the introduction, getting to the point, explanations being concise and easy to follow. Where diagrams are used, they are interesting and effective - especially the convergence (or otherwise) of solutions in the Iteration section... The most important thing here, I feel, is that you have an excellent resource to refer back to that is precise and gives you the information (facts), techniques and a full range of solutions per topic... Would I order it? Yes! Does what I want to do factually especially in a reference way/ It's a good personal resource - have the facts at my fingertips." — K Taylor, A Level Maths Lecturer & Independent Reviewer

Very clearly presented, highlighting all of the main points that stimulate classroom discussion, and also being sure to explain each step with reference to the theory on which it is based... The main features that I liked were the layout of the inverse function solutions, the graphical representation of the iteration questions, and the graphs of the modulus functions... This resource enhanced learning because it will appeal to the Kinaesthetic learner, with visual representations of the algebra being demonstrated. Furthermore, the layout of the solutions is clear, logical and easy to follow, with the summary at the end being particularly useful... this resource covers all of the main points well, and also aims to highlight common student misunderstandings." — K Martin, Mathematics Teacher & Independent Reviewer

They have some excellent examples and cover all the main points of the C3 syllabus... it will enable teachers to deliver their lessons efficiently... an excellent resource." — J Kennedy, Second in Department & Independent Reviewer

Would make a useful revision tool or lesson catch up that could be placed on school VLE... Contained all info needed and not too much detail." — J Gatrell, Head of Maths & Independent Reviewer

Clearly written, with many complementary diagrams to illustrate the key ideas... I liked the explanation of the trigonometric ratios and the worked examples of them, which covered all the main types of problem encountered in the examination. I also liked the balance of theory-v-example which was just about right for AS level... the trigonometric equations examples were very logical and well presented. Also, the diagrams for the trapezium rule questions were very good... I feel that this resource enhances learning through the fact that it is very succinct, to the point and accurate, and it could be used as a recap/revision for practice or as a lead through each topic." — K Martin, Maths Teacher & Independent Reviewer

Very well set out examples and clear explanations. A very thorough overview of the whole syllabus... I liked the idea of the key points at the end of each powerpoint... I would use this in class but the main area for me is if students are absent you can direct them immediately to a suitable resource... A very good match to the specification. Very thorough as it encompasses the entire syllabus." — G Evans, Head of Maths & Independent Reviewer

I really like this resource. It is well matched to the specification and the questions are answered in a clear fully comprehensive way, making it very easy for students to follow.the answers are well scaffolded... Not only can the teacher use this as a teaching tool, but students can use this to independently learn and consolidate there learning. It has good AfL potential." — B Patel, Head of Maths & Independent Reviewer

Really liked this... Excellent examples... The whole course is covered... Matches the course perfectly... an excellent revision tool for students to work through on their own. Will promote correct setting out of answers and students get immediate feedback/assessment." — B Jackson, Maths Advanced Skills Teacher & Independent Reviewer

Very useful. I will definitely use it next year when teaching C2.... covered all aspects of each of the topics in C2. It makes sure you don't miss any parts out of topics during expositions and it is very good for visual learners. It was a well presented resources with plenty of visual, well-annotated diagrams, and plenty of examples and slides that go through the questions step by step. Mechanics is notoriously hard to teach to students, and this is a good resource as a lot of the drawing is demonstrated. — S Issur, Mathematics Teacher & Independent Reviewer

The resource provided plenty of clear examples with detailed working at each stage... I liked that the resource gives plenty of well worked examples for each topic. The examples are broken down into stages that allow pupils to follow each step of the working easily... By providing such a variety of examples it ensures that pupils are prepared for the variety of questions that can appear in the examination. Breaking each example into steps allows the teacher to explain what is happening at each stage and ensure that the pupils understand what is being taught." — J Wilson, Maths Teacher & Independent Reviewer

The slides were clear, with all key points given and it was well laid out. Examples were easy to follow... Good resource to teach a topic, as the examples are prepared dor you." — S Arif, Maths Teacher & Independent Reviewer

Absolutely fantastic. The diagrams are well constructed and the solutions to the examples are well laid out so they can be followed easily... The diagrams are the best part as they show students how they can use the diagrams to really help them solve the problems... The use of vectors with other topics also helps to link how we can represent and use maths in different ways... A good structure that will help students to revise and review how to construct diagrams and solve mechanics questions... Excellent resource." — A Pointon, Head of Maths & Independent Reviewer
