What do teachers say about this resource? (2440)

Staff in the department were very impressed with this resource. It is detailed and the worksheets can be used instantly. Perfect for experienced and new language teachers.

K Greaves, Teacher & Customer

Very good... Good, clear information, and specification coverage.

H Davies, Teacher & Customer

Very good... a comprehensive overview [of CLA]. This resource would make me confident that students had more than just the basics to carry out a good investigation [of the topic]. The tasks at the end are most useful, as are the revision questions.

A really comprehensive resource. What is most useful is the way it is organised. Often texts on child acquisition are full of information and theorists but this pulls everything together well. the summary boxes are very user friendly and comparisons between the theorists and theories can be made and applied. The different interpretations of the stages by different theorists was good because it makes the students appreciate the vague and varied approach to an impure science: there are so many variables involved in the acquisition of language and this serves to remind the students (and the teacher) to be tentative in approaching a child language transcript.

A good resource that will help teachers to feel confident that they have covered everything for this unit. A very useful resource, well worth having and... pitched perfectly.

Contains enjoyable revision activities... It is clearly structured so helps students differentiate between different concepts and theories.

What do teachers say about this resource? (2462)

Fantastic. The quality of the notes on the different areas of Language Change are really impressive and the exercises for students are extremely useful. I particularly like the lists of theorists and the summary of their findings. It is extremely helpful to have these in one place rather than researching over a number of different texts.

It is very comprehensive and provides excellent self-assessment materials as well as lesson materials. Students will find the tasks engaging, manageable and developmental.

A Baiden, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

The resource is very detailed and includes all of the required content. The students can also develop this further by conducting their own research.

K Greaves, Teacher & Customer

I particularly like this resource because it covers necessary elements of the specification without being unduly complex but also goes into sufficient detail to stimulate the brightest students.

S Alsop, Teacher & Customer

I thought the resource was very detailed. I particularly liked the sections on phonetics and dialect - I thought it was clear and concise in its details. I also liked how excerpts had been taken from key theorists in the fields to give detailed information.
