The World of Work: Activities and Stimulus Material

Very innovative... interesting for the learner and has been thought through carefully and systematically

J Harding, Tutor & Peer Reviewer

Well-researched stimulus material and activities on specially selected career-related topics. A great way to cover these topics in a relevant and interesting way and an opportunity to introduce Careers into Citizenship and PSE.

"The underlying assumption of this pack is that there are issues related to adult work which can be usefully shared in school...

The pack assumes a progression from a very basic introduction of key terms (Skills, Qualities, Qualifications) to such adult issues as work-life balance." Paul Francis, author

Excellent topics have been selected and I loved many of the topics esp. workers home and away and work/life balance... I loved the football manager scenario it would prove very engaging to pupils I'm sure... I can see this [resource] being very useful around the time yr 10 are arranging work experience.

Great set of classroom activities ... All worksheets seem challenging to the learners ... It allows learners to access the full wider world of work curriculum thats needs to be covered

AM Cox, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

I found this helpful and feel that I could use it as contributory material to enhance my own programme and resources.

Clear and well set out... will create awareness of a subject that out side the students' experience... Detailed information on health and safety issues related to specific industries

M Darling-Reid, Teacher & Peer Reviewer

Good quality... There is a good mix of group and solo work... I particularly liked the notes on activities at the end of the resource, this would be useful for non specialist teachers of careers... This resource is one of the few that i have seen that actually contributes to the AQA certificate at Level 1/ 2 (gcse short course equivalents) in preparation for working life and would be of great benefit to staff teaching this course for the first time! ... puts ideas out there for discussion in a real world context and makes the work done in careers seem more useful since it can be seen in the context of what could actually apply to students in the near future
