What do teachers say about this resource? (10828)

This resource is excellent. Much like the core ideologies variant, this is a very strong offering for revision materials. It is very well written, accessible and very engaging with the correct focus on the core aspects of the specification ... I am a big fan of the graduated approach to building on prior revision and developing knowledge to become embedded within students' answers and revision. The key terms are excellent and the right length for students to digest. The arguments for and against certain debates allow students to draw their focus towards the key interpretations and debates within the course. The inclusion of comparative theories is excellent and is done in such a way which is very engaging and accessible to ALL students for their revision ... This resource has huge utility which enhances learning, therefore demonstrating huge educational value. It can be revision materials, homework preparation, used in class alongside other resources, used for independent study. It does not simply have just one purpose. It is multi-functional and this is why it has such a high educational value ... Perfectly follows the specification in the correct order which allows the students and the teachers to ensure that each key aspect is covered carefully and chronologically. Nothing included is irrelevant and it ensures that students are focused on what is needed to succeed in their exams

It covered the specification thoroughly and in a logical order ... I particularly liked the use of illustrations to break up the text and make it more user-friendly ... I also liked the variety of approaches eg bullet points, boxes, bold font ... It enhances learning by giving students confidence that the unit is manageable,as they are often worried after the more straightforward/familiar UK material ... Its educational value is to consolidate knowledge but also improve essay writing skills in particular,by the inclusion of multifarious essay plans egarguments for/against ... Its presentation/layout was clear and had some nice little touches eg scrolls re amendments ... It matches the specification excellently, integrating comparative theories seamlessly into each section ... It also interprets it well bringing in original essay titles to analyse/evaluate ... Examples eg p36 add to the depth of interpretation,as do references to websites p18,33 and the activities at the end of each section ... there were some impressive sections within the more general information eg re the constitution of Louisiana/box on federal government expansion v state opposition

an excellent and varied revision resource. There is something in here for everyone and this is one of the first resources in quite sometime that I feel genuinely caters for EVERY student in the classroom. Excellent concept and not a moment too soon as we are solidifying the normality of exams again ... The fact that the resource is extremely well resourced and categorised is a huge bonus. The 6 different aspects of each topic are consistent, clear and an excellent manner in which to build up revision from the simple to the advanced. There is a clear progression from start to finish in terms of building up knowledge ... The content is clear - it is relevant, updated and linked to the specification. There is no attempt to give unnecessary information or deviations. It is a clear and bold attempt to change the way we revise. I like this - revision can be formulaic and become repetitive and boring. This keeps it fresh and modern. There is also a very important aspect of 'self-assess' as any good and respectable Post-16 establishment should be embedding the principles of independent work within their students to prepare them for the wider world beyond. I also feel the 'take it further' option is hugely important as this encourages reading around the topic to further knowledge consolidation ... Neat, tidy and easy to follow ... It perfectly matches and interprets the specification as the content is matched to what is included in the guidance. It is not irrelevant, tangental nor out of date. It is exactly what the students need to know and exactly what they would be revising. It also highlights the need to keep up to date with current affairs - critical in order to ensure the most contemporary examples are used within politics as often as possible

I was impressed by this resource ... it is up to date/start 2022, essential for politics ... I particularly liked the way it treated different strands - eg classical/modern liberals ... This resource enhances learning by providing a straightforward introduction to theories ... Its educational value is to provide reassurance to the less able, while also stretching those at the other end of the spectrum, by providing websites egp15,29 and activities, while all can benefit from the student checks ... the visual material re thinkers helped their ideas to come alive.

What do teachers say about this resource? (11716)

This is an excellent set of resources which are going to be an excellent addition to any politics student's wider resources. It is a very important revision tool which, when revisiting knowledge will be an invaluable resource to assist student performance ... I am a big fan of the varied tasks throughout the resource but also the consistency in which it has been developed. Each key section has key terms (which are always a quick and easy way to test knowledge), arguments for and against key debates, student checks (which are excellent and a sure-fire way of checking if knowledge has been retained) in order to focus on the core areas for revision and the take it further section - love this. This really encourages students to fully underline their understanding and knowledge of each topic ... These interlink with the many resources available such as course companions, activity packs, topic on a page amongst some. They are not stand-alone (which should never be the purpose of a revision) and are a cut-above some of the other revision materials available externally. Educationally, the Teacher (and Student) can make this as big a part of learning as they feel is needed. It could be completely independent-based study or part of starters/plenaries. Therefore, its educational value is not only huge, it is infinite ... It largely matches the specification perfectly. Very well written in conjunction with the specification requirements ensuring that all students are following exactly what they should be and not revising anything that isn't relevant or tenuously linked to the specification

I also liked the tables eg p3,9,12,19 and the use of concepts such as similarities/differences; advantages/disadvantages ... I particularly liked the diagrams eg p4 and captions to illustrations ... The essay plans were also helpful egp5/9/20/40 with arguments for and against ... It enhances learning by presenting material in a clear manner ... Its educational value is to present standard information in a fresh manner by not sticking just to conventional examples ... The presentation/layout was appealing with graphs breaking up the text in a positive manner. The layout re elections in particular was consistent ... It matches the spec very well ... up to date ... section on electoral systems well done, and this is an area students always find hard

a fantastic resource for both staff and students alike, particularly considering it has been updated to include elements from 2022 - politics is such a contemporary subject that it is amazing how easily resources become outdated, so the current 2022 focus is helpful! ... I really like that every topic ends with a student check in terms of confidence levels, and the range of activities as well as ways for students to take the topics further is a nice touch, both accessible to all levels yet providing a good level of challenge for our best and brightest ... The use of vocabulary definitions and the clear structure for each idea is really helpful, and the case studies are effectively diverse - textbooks and online content tend to use the same case studies so it was pleasing to see some other, perhaps less common, case studies this time round ... This resource clearly details the AO1 content students require in order to access this section of the exam. It is also really beneficial for staff new to teaching the spec as not only is it clear and concise, it also follows the exam spec easily so has a clear chronology which makes teaching easier ... Perfectly matched to spec, as is clearly demonstrated through the layout that follows the spec, the key word definitions which are the ones identified by the spec, and the use of the language in the spec ... I greatly appreciated this resource and would be keen to purchase further resources from this author

What do teachers say about this resource? (12058)

The resource is concise and outlines the key information in the course. I think it's comprehensive but balances this well with being good for quick references. The document has a great deal of up to date and historical examples ... I like that the resource lays out the course in bullet points and graphs. I think the key debate tables work very well also, as they summarise key arguments well ... It provides a valuable and easy to reference revision resource. The tasks and the RAG sheet at the end also add an interactive element ... It is split down by all units of the specification and they are labelled, and key debates are summarised throughout. As such, I would argue it mirrors the specification effectively ... great

I liked this resource. The teacher’s introduction was clear and good vocabulary was used from the start ... there was a consistent approach eg nutshell, key words etc ... I particularly liked the use of bold font and indents to clarify issues and there were good examples egp5. Also I liked the illustrations ... The resource would enhance learning by providing reassurance to weaker candidates ... Its educational value is to consolidate what they should have learned in lessons/from textbooks etc and the references to websites make it seem more user friendly to students, as did the student checks ... use of scrolls p15 a nice touch, and diagrams break up the text in a helpful manner eg p17/23 as do charts egp24/29./26 not to mention timelines egp43 and pie charts
