Learn, Practise, Apply

Differentiated A3 worksheets with illustrations enable students to learn, practise and apply board-specific topic vocabulary for the 2016 specification GCSEs.

Through Foundation or Higher activities, students build their knowledge of the themes and topics in structured stages. Activities range from fun games and quick tasks to more difficult translations and writing questions, for an enjoyable learning process that simultaneously hones students’ skills for the exams.

  • 5 packs in total: Each pack covers 1 Edexcel theme and all corresponding topics for use in class, as homework or revision
  • Co-teachable: Teachers select Foundation or Higher worksheets – perfect for mixed ability classes!
  • 1 illustrated double-sided A3 page per topic – gives students visual cues that help them to learn vocabulary in context while completing the activities (Higher only vocab clearly labelled)

  • Worksheet 2: Practise – enables consolidation of knowledge gained in worksheet 1 through short answer and non-verbal tasks

What do teachers say about this resource? (11612, 11613, 11614, 11615, 11616)

Absolutely - I will be using Topic on a Page in my lessons ASAP. It is a very colourful, visually stimulating and engaging resource with lots of different activities - I absolutely loved it and will be using it in my own lessons. There is a lot of information, but it is presented in bite-sized chunks, so it is accessible for everyone. It is very colourful, which makes it appealing and fun. I also really liked the country-specific information on Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It has all the vocabulary and grammar students need in order to do well in their exams, but it is presented in a much more accessible way than a lot of school text books. As the worksheets are already differentiated, it makes lesson planning a lot easier.

What do teachers say about this resource? (11951, 11952, 11953, 11954, 11955)

This resource would be an effective item to use for GCSE revision, I expect teachers would value this type of resource to for cover lessons, for example. It is particularly useful in terms of revision of key vocabulary relating to the topic. I like the concept of encouraging students to reflect on what they know first (identifying vocabulary from the list provided) and then using context to help them to work out the meanings of words that they don't know. This is a more effective approach as it encourages students to develop their skills of inference and decoding.
This resource activates prior learning and is of value in helping students to revise substantial topics in a suitably condensed format. This resource is ideal for independent work or cover work in a classroom setting, as it requires pair work for some of the activities. I think the colourful layout [PDF upgrade] is engaging and I particularly like the cultural elements which are interesting and engaging. The presentation is consistent and follows the same format for the different topics which makes it easy for students to understand what to do.

In general I like the resource, as I think it is a great idea to have such a resource that can be used for revision and to expand student´s language skills and vocabulary. Also, I like the fact that the worksheets are differentiated for Foundation, Higher and with some overlap exercises too. Great use of the one-page-per-topic concept, my students like it and it is easy to print-for cover work.

I really liked this resource. Well thought out with a variety of resources that followed the exam specification. Was very user friendly too. There is a clear progression and it both supports and challenges students.
