What do teachers have to say about this resource? (6843)
"Detailed, relevant to the AQA new specification and great... I particularly liked how the material was linked to the AQA assessment criteria, and although very detailed it is pupil friendly, religiously literate and in my view a fantastic ‘must have’ for any RE department teaching the AQA specification... I specifically liked the detail that each section goes into. I liked how it links to questions and also biblical quotes and how it is generally presented. This would enhance and new scheme of work, would work brilliantly as extension material, cover material and homework material – an all ‘rounder’ in my view... I would be comfortable using it in a variety of ways within and outside of the classroom. Well done. There is clear and good links with the examination specification and the links to further thinking and HW... Presentation is simple, easy to follow and well thought out. I like the use of images and tasks and how the quotes are separate from the main body of the text. It is good that the text is ‘chunked’ and broken up by tasks, images etc. I also liked how certain key words are presented at the beginning of a page of work before the main text begins."– A Jones, Head of RE & Independent Reviewer
"The resource provides detail on each section of the specification for theme B and is as detailed as any of the example texts books from other publishers. The written language is appropriate for GCSE level and would be accessible by the majority of students in a mixed ability class. Having some sample questions also adds by having quick questions that could be used... The language used was appropriate for the level and would be accessible to all ability levels... Key word definitions to give clarity... I liked the 'pause for thought' questions... This enhances learning or helps learning as this could be used in different ways throughout the year... As a photocopiable resource it allows teachers to copy just the section needed. For less able students (or able if required) a copiable resource means that students could write or highlight on the sheet, which they would not be able to do in a normal textbook. This will help learning as students can then react to what they are reading picking out key words or phrases. Or some copies could be given to less able students with key bits already highlighted... This resource could be used in a variety of situations throughout the year and would also be useful if a student is not able to be in school due to illness as the resource could be copied to send home... As this could also be purchased as an editable resource then it means that teachers could adapt the information for use in different activities in the classroom, from simple missing words to picking out a section and then having some of their own questions to answer... Information is set out clearly in short sections with the information broken up by using different headings. This makes it clear for students to read. Different types of styles are used to try to show the different information clearly such as putting any quotations in italics and boxes."– A Walmsley, RS Teacher & Independent Reviewer
What do teachers have to say about this resource? (6845)
"Plenty of good detail and, essentially, a clear out line of how to answer the exam questions to a good level. Key words are well defined and succinct... the writer(s) have taken great care to make the text pupil friendly in that its is easily readable... This resource will be well received by teachers at a loss on what exactly to include in their lessons, the use of this resource in addition to their own lesson planning and the inclusion of engaging tasks, should allow the teacher to be confident they have covered all the necessary areas."– P Allen, Head of RS & Independent Reviewer
What do teachers have to say about this resource? (6847)
'Written well... The language used was appropriate for the level and would be accessible to all ability levels... Key word definitions give clarity... Image on each page helps to keep interest and break up information. A range of religions covered, not all the same which gives variety on topics... the summary at the end of each part gives a good overview. I like some of the references to philosophical ideas or philosophers - adds something extra... Teachers can use this flexibly depending on what licence they purchased. For example they could purchase the Word documents and then edit the information as needed. This might be used in situations where some differentiation is needed for some students, either to add in small sections, or re format size to help some students with disabilities. This gives the resource a big advantage over text books... students can be given sections to annotate or highlight. This can help students to read through texts and begin to develop skills that are important when reading various forms of information. This is somethings younger or less able students find difficult and is hard to do when using a bought colour textbook. This could even be used to create a simpler booklet for some groups to write or annotate on themselves and then keep for revision purposes later on... Having a mix of information and questions also means that this resource could be used for cover if needed as it could easily be copied... Information is set out clearly in short sections with the information broken up by using different headings... matches the specification... covers each of the main bullet points giving a reasonable amount of information for this level of study. It also has a range of examples which could be used when teaching the specification.'– A Walmsley, Head of RS & Independent Reviewer
