What do teachers have to say about this resource? (5752)
'Superb. Really student friendly, and the activities are definitely ones I could use in class. one I particularly like: the question and activity on Aquinas p18. The boxes with definitions are also very useful... very student friendly, comprehensive but manageable as a class material. I would use it in booklets... it explains the key arguments of the course very effectively and could be used as further reading for students or as revision material... all the topics are covered.'– C Tweed, Teacher of RS & Independent Reviewer
'I thought the resource was clearly set out and comprehensive. The language used was appropriate... I liked the quizzes and some of the activities like the table activity on Hume... The resource is valuable because it is a good starting point for students and will give them a good grounding in the basics and enable them to do further in depth study... the presentation and illustrations are good... The resource covers all the topics on the Edexcel specification: for example the Ontological argument, cosmological argument, problem of evil etc. The questions are appropriate for the requirements of the assessment.'– A Forshaw, Head of RS & Independent Reviewer
What do teachers have to say about this resource? (5753)
'It covers everything that the students will need to know for the exam as well as engaging activities that they can use to test their knowledge...an incredibly comprehensive resource with a range of engaging activities to enhance students’ learning experience. It covers the curriculum very thoroughly, and the exam preparation questions are specifically tailored to the exam syllabus. The layout is also very creative, using a mixture of paragraphs, text boxes, illustrations, and bullet points-all of which make the information easier to take in... very detailed and well-tailored to the specification. In addition, it is very well-presented; the sentences are short and legible, with the right balance of paragraphs, text boxes and bullet points. The important key terms are highlighted in bold, which makes it easy for the reader to understand which terms are important to use in the exam. Many of the activities are also engaging and will enhance student learning... starter activities are useful warm-ups to get students thinking before they engage with the harder exercises. The activities and discussion questions are a good way to for students to test their knowledge after getting warmed up. There are also exam prep boxes that prepare students for answering exam questions, each of which are specifically tailored to the exam syllabus. The quick quizzes at the end of each section help readers to test what they have learned. The guide also highlights important key terms in bold, which will make them easier for the reader to remember and include in the exam... The illustrations of key thinkers are appropriate and help engage visual leaners.'– M Ball, RS Teacher & Independent Reviewer
'I like how the topics are broken down and the activities can be used effectively in class. I like the definitions in boxes on the sides... it covers the key content of the course clearly, but it is the activities that I find particularly useful... [matches the specification] very closely. The section on religion and morality is better than the edexcel textbook.'– C Tweed, RS Teacher & Independent Reviewer
What do teachers have to say about this resource? (5756)
'The structure of the resource is clear and logically proceeds through the topics required... I really liked the activities that focussed students on the demands of the questions for exam preparation i.e. focussing on ideas etc. I really liked the activity that reflected on practicality, relevance etc of deontological theories. I thought that the focus on strengths, weaknesses and then analysis was very useful and was easy to access... I think that it could be an excellent resource for revision or for independent study/HW. It could be useful in terms of introducing topics or consolidating knowledge. The strengths/weakness/analysis sections would be useful starting points for debates and preparing students to evaluate effectively for AO2... The resources is clearly tailored towards helping students develop the requisite knowledge and understanding for AO1 and the relevant evaluative aspects of the course for AO2. Having checked through the specification document the resource covers all of the key areas and does so in a clear and logical fashion.'– L McNamara, Teacher of Philosophy and Ethics & Independent Reviewer
