Pre-order Items

Pre-order resources will either have a single dispatch date or a date range. Where there is a date range:
  • The earlier date is the best-case scenario – the date by which we aim to dispatch the resource to you, if the resource sails through quality and similar checks.
  • The later date is given to indicate the latest date by which you should expect the resource to be dispatched.

These dispatch dates may occasionally be moved back, in which case we will notify you. Conversely, publications are often delivered earlier than the dates shown.

OCR examiners are looking for answers to part (e) questions that reflect the sort of lively debate one would get in a good class. This resource is ideally placed to help generate such debate… Liam the atheist is the star of the show! He states many of the typical comments and misunderstandings people have of Christianity – and all laced with humour. – P Dixon, Teacher, Examiner, Independent Reviewer

What do teachers have to say about this resource? (5485)
'This resource will encourage debate, which will significantly help students answer part (e) questions. This, for me, is the most valuable aspect of the resource: it will get students thinking! I would find them very useful to use both as starter activities and to re-visit once students know more about the subject so they can analyse points in the dialogues at a deeper level... Dialogues are user friendly: clear, making many key points, and presented with humour which will prove popular with students... Sound effects worked well and created a ‘believable’ atmosphere to contextualise the dialogues... Liam, the atheist, is a great character. He makes so many strong points which, I think, many students will be able to relate to. He’s funny as well! Without doubt, for me, the ability to generate debate is the biggest asset of this resource. This will improve students’ answers to part (e) questions, as this is the type of response examiners are looking for in part (e) answers. It will also help students from being one-sided in their analyses, which often happens, since they will have listened to different views from others in the class... As I listened to more and more of these dialogues I started to get the feeling of ‘getting to know’ the characters Liam, Jen and Anna. Students will too.'– P Dixon, Teacher, Examiner, Independent Reviewer
'The dialogues are of an appropriate length: long enough to cover several key points without being so long as to bore students... OCR examiners are looking for answers to part (e) questions that reflect the sort of lively debate one would get in a good class. This resource is ideally placed to help generate such debate. This is perhaps the key benefit of this resource: to stimulate debate! Audio recording of voices very clear and level of recorded volume makes listening easy... Pace and clarity of voices in dialogues are excellent... Best three dialogues for me are (i) worship, symbolism, fasting, (ii) prayer, (iii) funeral rites, judgement and salvation. Why? Because these dialogues explain the Christian views very clearly... Liam the atheist is the star of the show in the dialogues! He states many of the typical comments and misunderstandings people have of Christianity – and all laced with humour... I think this resource will prove a valuable starter activity to engage students with the various topics. The language used is carefully targeted at the right level so the transcripts themselves can be used as a resource for subsequent independent or group work to develop understanding and analysis of topics covered. The ‘Things to Do’ tasks are/can be useful to help students grasp the basics. The ‘Taking it Further’ tasks will, I think, be stimulating for more enthusiastic and/or able students.'– P Dixon, Teacher, Examiner, Independent Reviewer
