AQA B ELLB2: Activities for The Woman in White & The Lady in the Lake - Secrecy
A different approach which uses activities to engage with content and promote independent thinking as opposed to reading and simple re-call.
Activities to support students’ engagement of the two novels The Woman in White and The Lady in the Lake as part of AQA B English A Level Language and Literature Unit 2 coursework, with an emphasis on the 2013/14 theme of secrecy. Activities engage students with the novels individually and with original articles and commentary written about both in comparison. Answers are included to support self-study or classroom delivery.
Content covered includes:- exploring the word and theme secrecy
- author biographies and the contextual influence of each novel
- the author’s social and moral beliefs and its impact on each novel
- key characters, plot and genre
- narrative techniques, punctuation and grammar differences, and extract analysis
There is good engagement with both novels and focused activities relevant to the coursework topic. A detailed knowledge of the novels is presented through the resource and encouraged from the students. T Garland, English Teacher & Independent Reviewer
