What do teachers say about this resource? (5081)

Really useful - I liked the fact that there were discrete units on specific aspects which could be dipped into as needed. It does what it says in the title. Exactly what I needed. It has been really useful to reassure and support me. More please!

This resource would help to dispel writers block and help students to actually get writing!

A very inspiring and inspirational resource, combining traditional and innovative methods and ideas. Would recommend it. It was an excellent introduction to activities to develop creative writing which keeps its target audience of A level students firmly in mind. It is very user friendly, well researched and well put together. It encourages students to explore their own creativity through writing in a wide range of genres, while at the same time providing them with examples and frameworks to allow them to build the necessary skills. Tasks are ideal for individual students and work produced as a result could help those students start to build their portfolio as well as provide springboards for further discussion, extended pieces of writing or research topics. The resource matches and interprets the new A level Creative Writing specifications very well and is particularly suited to AS level students, beginning their course of study. Very helpful for teachers new to teaching the discipline of Creative Writing. It could be used outside schools and FE colleges in practical Creative Writing sessions and workshops. I was also inspired to try some of the exercises myself.

It offers well targeted, engaging, and hands-on strategies for stimulating creativity, with a useful overview of writing craft in the various genres and some of the theoretical background. It was user-friendly both for students and teachers and accessible to a range of ability and writing interests. The resource offers information, strategies and suggestions that meet comprehensively the assessment criteria for the A level in Creative Writing. It also provides pathways that prepare students for progression to a degree in Creative Writing.

This is a full, detailed resource that covers all the basics and gives lot of different methods and approaches. Very impressed that theory is brought in. This stops the 'springboard' approach from taking on a too lighthearted feel. Each section has a comprehensive rundown of the activities and how they should benefit the student engaging with them. They are varied and thoughtful, and provide a lot of open-ended outcomes. It is absolutely clear which sheets are for teacher reference and which are the student activity sheets - this is appreciated as it isn't always so! A neat, clear, inspiring resource that AS/A2 students could easily get their teeth into. I am completely taken with this resource.

The resource is clear, well presented and included a range of tasks. There is a list of recommended texts to encourage further reading and a variety of literature is referenced throughout the resource which would again encourage wider reading. I feel that students would find this resource encouraging and enjoyable. They would be able to produce high quality pieces of creative writing from the resources available. I feel there is a strong focus on accuracy too which is beneficial to students who can sometimes exaggerate in their writing. It teaches them discipline within their writing.

This is a great resource. I liked all the springboard activities and idea generators. I liked the simplicity of the stand alone ideas/stimulus sheets.

I really liked the activities within the workbook; there was a variety of activities with lots of visual stimulus and resources collected from other places such as song lyrics and film quotes. It was simple to access and the layout matched the content for it all to make sense. It would work for either a student working independently or as a guide for the teacher working their way towards a significant creative writing exam/assessment. My favourite activity was the 6 word stories they can be great fun and develop critical thinking skills. I liked the way the writer had started to focus on narrative theory. I enjoyed reading the activities and will be using them in my lessons!

It strikes the right balance between what inspires and what limits, in that it allows for imagination and development but has essential structure. It does exactly what it claims in that it stimulates imagination, ideas and therefore learning and writing.
