What do teachers have to say about this resource? (3715)
Super - just what I needed! Just have a look - its a great resource that will seriously aid revision and knowledge. HoD, Queen Elizabeths Mercian School, ZigZag Customer
The resource has alot of useful detail that will help students work towards an A*.
'This is a very good resource which covers all aspects of this specification. There are clear links to the specification criteria and the words pupils should become accustomed to. Very clear definitions of the explorative strategies and the mediums of Drama with excellent examples of them in practice in the wider world. The quiz element is fun and checks learning. Excellent examples of Unit one Documentary response which is clear and user friendly. Helps students understand the specification and what their teacher is trying to help them to achieve. This is a very good example of a resource which has the demands of the specification at heart and is accessible for 15-16 year old students.'Anthony Morbach-Jenkins, Head of Performing Arts, Independent Reviewer
Offers loads of ideas and suggestions which can be adapted for lessons or that the student can work through independently.B Myers, Teacher and Independent Reviewer
'An excellent resource, thorough and extremely informative. I did not dislike anything about this resource. It was easy to use, with clear headings. Students were addressed personally throughout, often in a comical/likeable fashion. Key terminology was explained simply and in detail, as were the requirements of each section of the course. Examplary examples were given to aid student understanding, particularly for written coursework elements. Full understanding of the requirements of the course are gained. Even lower ability students would greatly benefit from the easy to understand information that is presented and would easily be able to manage the small steps to improving that are suggested. Explanations of terminology will aid writing, and higher achievement in coursework. This can also be said to be true of the model answers given for each aspect of the written coursework. 'S Ward, Drama Teacher, Independent Reviewer
'It was a privilege to read another teacher's philosophy on drama teaching, the years of experience revealing many treasures. I agree that the piece is more likely to take students to high grades in the Edexcel exam, but as a teacher it made me reflect on many aspects of teaching drama. For example, I was inspired to think about reluctant group workers and a series of steps that could be provided to make it easier for said students to increase the number and quality of contributions that they make. The resource is filled with many little gems. My list of particular likes is virtually endless. It clearly identifies to student (and teacher) in very simple terms the difference required to achieve an A*. No reader could finish How to get and A* without understanding the consistent commitment needed to get this grade. The use of the criteria only serves to make this crystal clear. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would feel very confident recommending it to all teachers of drama.'N Phillips, Drama HoD, Independent Reviewer
'Very articulate, and easy to read. I liked the approach the author takes. It is an intelligent guide with some clever ideas and these are simply expressed, and therefore accessible for pupils. The author is very good at thinking "outside the box", and has clearly a track record in encouraging pupils to do so also. Lots of examples back this up. The author enhances learning and hopes to raise pupil achievement by helping pupils to identify specific assessment criteria and then explores what kind of action will demonstrate understanding or skills to get the points.' K Meredith-Jones, Edexcel Drama Teacher and Independent Reviewer
'The resource is very informative and has an engaging conversational tone throughout. It clearly explains how to get an A*. It is motivational and puts the emphasis on the student and what they can do and this is good. This resource explains to the student what they need to do and how they can extend and develop their performance in class and in an exam. There are excellent examples of how the explorative strategies, elements of drama and drama medium can be used to develop and deliver outstanding drama. The history section is especially good. The resource provides a comprehensive overview of the Edexcel exam criteria and clearly explains how students can achieve an A*. I really enjoyed reading this resource and I felt that the author communicated effectively with his intended audience.' M Kocziban, Head of Drama and Independent Reviewer
