Activities Matter

Invaluable reference book of approx 50 games and activities

Inspired by a resident with dementia who one night took the phone to pieces just to have something to do with his hands! He and others needed something to do, so this book of games and activities was written.

Activities Matter contains sections on:
  • Board games and table-top games
  • Theme days and evenings - great for involving family members and the community
  • Craft ideas
  • Singalongs

Highlights the important of the involvement of the activity organiser and friends and relatives.

"This will help staff get to know their clients, which will then better the clients' care... the games will give them something they do together and will open communication between staff and clients."
Sam Karslake, NVQ trainer and assessor

A nice idea, anyone new to activities in a care or senior citizens home would benefit greatly from these lovely and simple ideas. Very imaginative and useful

laid out well and was easy to follow. It will help staff working with the elderly to get to know their clients, this will then better the clients care more and more because young carers often feel they have nothing in common with their clients, the games will give them something they do together and will open more communication between staff and clients.

S Karslake, NVQ Assessor & Customer

This resource will provide group leaders with lots of ideas from which to choose when working with older people. I liked the variety. There were ideas that would appeal to many people and including an intergenerational aspect was good. On the whole, an excellent piece of work with lots of thought.
